Although it cannot be denied that Barcelona is the most famous Catalan city, Tarragona also occupies a prominent place within this community. It is well communicated with the capital and also the entrepreneurial spirit of its service sector in relation to the automobile is admirable.
Often, drivers of vans and other vehicles feel a little neglected. Traffic restrictions are the order of the day in our country and those who work on a daily basis behind the wheel of a car often complain about the obstacles they encounter along their route.
However, Tarragona is an example of coexistence between drivers and pedestrians and there are no major obstacles to overcome to move around the city in a van. That is one of the great attractions of this city from the point of view of Autofurgo.
Our van rental company is present in Tarragona with the sole purpose that our customers can have vans and minivans adapted to their needs. No more excuses for not driving around Tarragona.
A move or attend to the orders and requests of a client. Book your van through the form on our website or call us to complete the formalities of the rental process. There will be no route that you can't drive using our vehicles!

What to see if you visit Tarragona
Tarragona is home to the Archaeological Ensemble of Tarraco, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. This area includes the Walls, the Provincial Forum, the Circus, the Colonial Forum, the Theater, the Amphitheater, the Aqueduct and many other Roman buildings. It is possible to find all these monuments in the same city because Tarraco, as the Romans called it, was considered the capital of the Roman province of Hispania Citerior.
Tarragona also has important tourist centers built in later times, such as the Metropolitan and Primate Basilica Cathedral of Santa Tecla, the Balcony of the Mediterranean, the Serrallo Quarter, the Metropol Theater or the Port. If you visit Tarragona, do not forget to taste its seafood and its blue fish, with Denomination of Origin Blue Fish of Tarragona. In any restaurant you can find the espineta with snails, the cassola de romesco and the arrossejat. The province is also famous for its mistelas and its wines with Denomination of Origin Tarragona.

Getting to Tarragona by Road
Naturally the road you choose to reach the limits of Tarragona will vary depending on where we started our journey. From Autofurgo believe it advisable to deal with both the national roads that pass through Tarragona as those found in the interior of the province:
- The N-240: Covers the route Lleida-Tarragona.
- The N-340: It reaches this Barcelona city from Valencia.
- The N-420: This is the Reus-Tarragona highway.
- The C-14: It makes the route Montblanc-Alcover-Reus.
- The A-7 and the C-32: Both toll highways are used to get from Barcelona to Tarragona. The first of these roads also connects with Valencia.
- The N-II: It will be our starting point to get to Tarragona from Madrid.
Parking a Autofurgo vehicle in Tarragona
Moving by van in Tarragona is something simple and advantageous. However, when it comes to making transfers within the city limits and parking is another matter. The truth is that this circumstance is not too surprising since it is not the first Spanish city whose center and main roads are somewhat saturated by the influx of vehicles.
To solve this problem in Autofurgo we have compiled a list of available parking lots that we believe may be of interest to our customers.
- Aparcament Núñez y Navarro: The address is Carrer de Tarragona 141-157. In this subway pay station there are some spaces reserved for the disabled and other special spaces for motorcycles and bicycles. There are toilets and elevator. Opening hours from Monday to Friday are from six in the morning to ten at night. On Saturdays the opening hours are from 10:30 pm to 7:30 am. The price for a 24-hour stay is 29 euros.
- Inmobiliaria Motormovil: It is a multi-storey parking lot open all day from Monday to Sunday. It is located at Carrer del Rector Triadó, 96-100. It specializes in long-term parking although its price list also includes hourly parking. The cost for a 24-hour stay is 21 euros.
- Plaza Joan Pelegrí: This is a parking lot located at Carrer Llobet, 1. It is a subway location but adequately illuminated. The opening hours from Monday to Saturday are from eight in the morning to ten at night. On Sundays it is open only from eleven in the morning to eight in the evening. The fee for leaving our vehicle here during the day is 25 euros.
- Carrer d'Entença, 95: The name of this place already indicates its location. It has a somewhat reduced schedule since it opens its doors from Monday to Saturday from nine in the morning to nine in the evening. The good thing is that the places are covered but its price for 24 hours is 28 euros.
As we have seen, leaving the van in a pay station in Tarragona is not as profitable and cheap as in other areas of Spain. However, keep in mind that Autofurgo users use the rental vans and minivans for transport and travel that they do not do on a regular basis so this extra outlay is worth it if the occasion requires it.
Tarragona, a pioneer in digitizing mobility
In November 2016 Josep Acero, president of Aparcaments Municipals de Tarragona S.A, reached an agreement with the company EasyPark to modernize the parking sector. The idea is that drivers will no longer have to stop to pay for their stay in subway parking lots thanks to a license plate recognition system.
Cell phones will be the key to implementing this breakthrough in the application of intelligent solutions in the field of mobility. It remains to be seen how this system will work and how it will be received by citizens.
